This is my final part of my project editing all my footage together into a single piece, this piece is called the Bane of my life and name given to it by close relatives when I was brain storming ideas, this title will be a horror with comedy elements, the horror will be inspired by slasher movie and the comedy is base on films like space balls and the monty python film series.
Today I’ll make my film, I first start by usb card to find and locate my filming in the mac finder. below is some of the footage I will be using in my production
after finding my files I began to place them into the abobe premiere, so I could edit them together, for here I will be placing all of my select footage onto the timeline, for now I’ll only use the footage made with the canon camera
From this I look at the first scene present on the camera, a shot I took when on the road to the filming location, this shot involves the camera looking out of the window onto the road, this scene had some good parts so I cut out any bit I thought were good like the side view of a brush and the part when I added a darker filter, when we entered some forest bits the whole screen went dark, I think I’ll use this to my advantage and use this as a transition to the title screen, I removed all the sound from this segments because I had no need for them and I can easily replace them at any time with stock music from the rest of the film or so copyright free music I can find online
In this scene we we have a scene were peter along with the rest of the cast are having a conversation, I did alt of scenes were the acters talk to each other, wih this formet I film one actor whilst the others act their lines of screen, I did this mutiple times, when editing I edit out my own voice and any out of character moments from the characters, I removed peters first take as he wasn’t speaking in the german acent at the time so I decide to cut those scene of him.
The next scene I edited was of Leanne scenes of the conversation, their we two scene to edit together both featured
during the editing process I came across a bit of footage with peter driving this is meant to go along with the the road scene as the being of the film. I removed the sound as it did little to help make the scene along with music playing in the background, also I cut the last few seconds for now as I think it wound not sync up with the countiuity of the procing shots after I finished editing
the next scene was Leanne and jack walking through a forest, this scene was meant to transition the film from the car to the forest, I decided to cut out a bit when I fell down a ledge as the camera was shaken incredibly, this would not make my film look good so I cut it from the production.
I deleted the rest of the forest scene as it mostly me talking to Leanne and jack about what to do next and the first scene after that is a scene of Leanne trying out on of her lines.
During my next few attempt to edit the video it failed as I had problems downloading the data from my drive until my tutors help me produce my work, we fix this by putting all my videos footage into a singler file.
When I started to edit again I began with trying to piece the car scene together, this involved my getting all the scene inside the car together and choicing with ones I’ll use, some scenes were blurry like one of leannes scenes so I decide to cut that bit out and use different footage in its place, the main problem I had with this project is the fact that I film a huge amount of footage and had left myself with so little time to edit it all together so I rush this part to find footage that look up to basic standerd, this luckly went well for me.
this a scene of Leanne in the back seat reacting to what Peter has to say to her about the horrors of the forest, this scene was shaking so I decide to try and minimize this by cutting the worse bit out and placing the good bit into other less shaky scenes
Their were a couple of scenes that I had problems with, three scenes scene I had made were almost unviewable as they were too dark for me to see and edit with them so I had to edit this scenes out of their entirety so next time I film I’ll need to make sure I can see what is happening unless I want to waste time.
this is me deleting some unwanted footage, this scene is of a failed attempt of jack panicking, this was due to my poor directing so I need to be a better director, this scene would not work as the scene stops immediately as jack had to ask my a question about the production.
the forest scene is very similar to the car scene as I had film form multiple points of view, this revealed a problem, I was to indecisive as I took ages to find the footage I wanted so this lead to me taking to long with my editing.
The car scene was much easier to work with as I was able to film it in one go, this however made me feel lazy as I took to long looking through my work to find the one scene that went well as appose to looking over the failed attempts for over ten minutes.
The final segment of the film is the pub scene, this involves bane entering a pub to find non other then the horse demon, this was my favorite part of production as I experimented with my scenes and angle however I rushed through this part, this mean I could of done better and during filming I could of followed the script more.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, I should of left myself with more time to edit my film rather then just put it off each time, I also should of made sure to have a plan as I rarely told my actors what to do along with even injuring them during the running scene as I hadn’t planned a safe way for them to run away to, so I have a lot to improve upon next year.
